Watch out World!

I am now nearly five months old, and discovering new things every day... including my toes and my voice (and how to shout for attention... works really well). I am very active, Mummy and Papi complain that I never sit still. This month I learned to roll over from my tummy to my back, and to scoot aound my playmat on my tummy or back... I just can't wait to be mobile! And I am very sociable, I'll smile and laugh at anyone, I get lots of attention that way! Here's some of my favourite things...My favorite toy- Eddy the teddy and my Noah and the Ark fabric bookMy favorite people- Mummy and Papi of course! What makes me laugh- Tickles and kisses on my tummy and neck, Mummy's silly songsWhat makes me cry- Waiting too when I'm hungry, vaccinations, being left alone too longImportant events this month- I was dedicated on Sunday 20 November at our Church in Palmerston North- St Albans Presbyterian. Afterwards we had an afternooon tea party to celebrate the dedication, and also my Mummy's birthday and the end of my Papi's study.
Below are some of my most recent photos, check out my smugmug album for lots more photos!

My dedication at St Albans, November 20.

I've worked out what to do with gifts already...

Caught! Mummy left me under my playgym for a few minutes and somehow I found my way under the chair!

12 weeks old and growing!

Time flies! Our baby is now no longer a newborn but a chubby and contented 3-month old! In the past two months she has perfected her smiles- flirtacious little smiles and big toothless grins. She's even started laughing, small giggles at Papi and mummy's funny noises and at favourite toys. Another favourite is Papi's music and she loves to "sing" along with him! At her last "well-child" health check three weeks ago she weighed 5.1 kg- we are quite sure at her next check later this week she will weigh far more than that, she eats very well, and is collecting "rolls" on her legs and arms. She has had her first doctors visit- a general check up and 3 vaccinations, which upset mummy more than Maya! She is a very healthy baby, although she had her first cold last weekend.
In the last couple of months we have visited Grandma and Grandad in Wellington three times. While there she met wee Jake Williams, 6 weeks younger than her. Jake is the son on Mark and Rahel Williams, good friends from Mercy Ships. We are now a little worried as Maya seemed quite flirtacious- smiling and cooing at Jake. She was also able to meet her great grandmother for the first time- and as always really enjoyed being the centre of attention!

Maya's First Month

It is hard to beleive but Maya is already over one month old! And she is getting more beautiful every day! She is now smiling- she has a beautiful smile that makes Mummy and Papi forget all about the lack of sleep and copious dirty nappies that are part of life with a newborn.

We have now been discharged from our midwife, and had our first visit from the plunket nurse last week. At this visit Maya weighed 4kg- a good weight gain- and was 55cm long. In the last few days she seems to have hit a growth spurt- sleeping short bursts and feeding frequently, but otherwise has been eating and sleeping well (up to 6 hours per night!)

Maya continues to be the subject of many phots- follow these links for photos from Maya's first month.

Welcome Maya Elena!

Born: Thursday July 7 2005 at 6:48pm

Weight- 3490g or 7lb10oz
Length- 47cm

After 16 hours of labour (including a very fast 18 minute 2nd stage) we finally met our beautiful daughter Maya Elena.
Maya is a beautiful girl, with her mummy's nose, mouth and chin and daddy's dark hair (but not curly) and big eyes. After a couple of rough nights (for mum!) she is starting to settle into a good routine, feeding and sleeping well. She is very very cuddly, and has Mum, Dad and Grandma all wrapped around her little finger.

Below we have posted photos taken shortly after Maya was born. Follow the links on the right for more photos from her first few days in the world.
